About The
CLA
CLA Rural Economy is our
Business
At the CLA the rural economy is very much our business. We understand that rural land, and changes in the way it is used, is at the heart of the rural economy and that rural businesses, many of them micro businesses, are the driving force of the rural economy, generating jobs and incomes in a thousand different ways.
We have been representing landowners and rural businesses for over 100 years. CLA members together own approximately half of the rural land in England and Wales and own or manage more than 250 different types of businesses in a wide variety of sectors including service, recreation, industry and the professions. This network is a particular strength of the CLA and provides individual members with the opportunity to get in touch with others – advisers, experts, potential customers, suppliers – through numerous social and business activities.
As the membership organisation for owners of land, property and business in rural England and Wales, at the CLA the rural economy is very much our business.
